04/07/2017:
PRESIDENT TRUMP GETS IT RIGHT: One thing I hated about Barack Obama was his eternal politeness to the world's criminal thug leaders and his "lines in the sand" that could always be crossed with impunity--which is why Bashir Assad no doubt figured that a new era in American "leadership" had arrived with Obama. Certainly Trump would look the other way too and whistle Dixie while Assad unleashed a murderous cloud of sarin gas upon his own people (naturally) earlier this week.
I won't go as far as some pundits and get up on my soapbox and say "American power is back!"--but Trump's correct read on the situation and what it required was encouraging. If even tinpot dictators like Assad think they can scoff at international law with no fear of American power, then American power doesn't mean much.
Liberal blogger Greg Humphrey's take has some similarities to my own.
