IT'S WORSE THAT WE THOUGHT: By pretty much any yardstick you care to use, Minnesota is performing a severe economic whupping of its neighbor to the east. This has become especially noticeable since Scatt Wanker became governor of Wisconsin in 2011.
Although the WiGOP has done its best to suppress or discredit this interesting factoid (interesting because Minnesota has a liberal governor and the GOP there has little clout since the Gophers rose up and threw them out at the same time we installed King Scatt), it's gotten to the point where just about every Wisconsinite knows someone who has pulled up stakes and moved to Minnesota. That cow, as they say hereabouts, is out of the barn.
Along with the major outmigration to the Gopher State, another trend since the WiGOP assumed its stranglehold on us Badgers is a large influx of people from rural Wisconsin moving to our cities, looking for some work... any work. Things are especially bad out there in the rural areas, where many people don't even have Internet access or must drive scores of miles to indulge in things like, um, grocery shopping.
As one might expect, things are radically different in rural Minnesota.
That's right, our neighbor to the west is growing so rapidly, and seeing its economy actually "taking off like the rocket" Wanker promised us after he prevailed in the recall election, that outstate businesses have to offer lavish perks to get people to apply for their family-supporting jobs.
Any governor worth his salt would take a look at news like this and say, "Gee, how could I get this to happen in my state?" Well, of course, you start by not having a Terminal Case Of The Dumb-Ass. But since all of Wisconsin government is controlled by Terminal Dumb-Asses, I'm not getting my hopes up. As the WiGOP and its backers always say, "If you don't like it here, move."
