THE NEW SOCIALISTS, THE NEW DEMOCRATS: This is from a recent e-mail exchange between Alois und myself.

Alois writes:

I don't agree that our population has been pushed that far to the left, as GWB's election and re-election seems to prove otherwise.

I think what's really happening is that, slowly but surely, the beast that has been buried since the 1960s in our media and universities has emerged and has begun to use the power that it has amassed to strangle America until America agrees to "relive the Sixties" and become something of a Marxist state.

Two things auger against them, though:

1) The emergence of conservative talk radio and the blogosphere as news sources independent of the MSM—which is why the left has been trying for years to smash conservative talk radio under "hate speech" edicts; and

2) The left has pushed too hard too fast and I think most Americans now realize that they are anti-American psychopaths.

To which I responded:

I hope that you're right. In possible support of your opinion, I heard yesterday that CBS News' audience has fallen to its lowest level ever—less than 6 million. Does that mean that the lost audience has turned to other news sources or just to Wheel of Fortune?

Yeagley is right: In our complacent lassitude, we will hand the jewel of the world over to our enemies.

A big question is the illegal alien amnesty bill currently under scrutiny. If this is pushed through by or elected "representatives," chain immigration could add 40 million Mexicans to the electorate. Inasmuch as the majority of them will become welfare wards of the state, who will they vote for? Big Government (i.e. democrats - the new socialists)

South of the border, populations do not have a penchant for or history of democracy and the rule of law. Mexico is basically a state of corrupt, semi-organized chaos. They won't assimilate; they will simply import the Mexican way. They are looking for an easy ride; assimilating is hard work. They won't even be bothered to learn English; they will just set up their own Mexican regions.

The demon-crats will be happy to have them as their constituency; mass immigration plays directly into their hands and intent to push the United States further and further down the road to a socialist state with themselves in power over the masses. As you have said—right out of the communist playbook. There is a rather delicate electoral balance and mass immigration from the south could push us into decades of demon-cratic administrations. This is a bleak scenario, but it can very easily happen.

With as many as three potenial Supreme Court appointments to be made by the next President, we'd better get a real conservative in the White House in 2008.

We'd also better stop this mass amnesty bill in its tracks too.

The democrats have morphed into the new socialists. The republicans have morphed into the new democrats.

PERILS OF PREACHING *ONLY* TO THE CHOIR: This story about Gov. Deval Patrick from the Boston Globe would be a good one for all of the Democrat Presidential hopefuls to read and consider as they continue their Sherman's March headlong over the feelings, interests and desires of those who don't already support them.

As they—sometimes with bogus accents, sometimes with bogus statistics, and always with overpriced hair—"preach" exclusively to their own choir, straining their voices louder and more leftward, to ensure they reach those in the "cheap seats" to the left of the choir (I believe that's where the whine of the violins for the "poooooooor victims of our rapacious and greedy society" comes from...right next to the percussion section constantly beating the drum for socialist revolution...but I digress...), they invariably forget that winning means being President of the WHOLE country.

Yes, that's right Hillary, that's right Barack, that's right John. You don't get to keep hearing the thunderous applause of those who adore and already agree with you. You'll face the music from those people who will, literally overnight, become your harshest critics if you don't do everything they expect (never mind everything you promised), AND those people who already are. At some point you are going to have to face the music, stop preaching and start DOING. You will have—as the article points out—a moral and legal obligation to govern for ALL of our interests. You will have to account for your slander and insults and condescension, never mind garden-variety insensitivity. What goes around comes around, I'm afraid.

And if my visceral reaction to this little story about what Deval Patrick is going through is any indication, when those chickens come home to roost for you, Mrs. Clinton (the most likely person to be cleaning chicken shit off her doorstep someday in early '09), I will be laughing my ASS off.

I FEEL BETTER: It's been a somber Memorial Day, and that is as it should be.

After a gorgeous Friday afternoon—watching the Leisure Culture Multitudes clog the highways as they headed out of town to the lakes and the state parks—Saturday was cold and rainy. Sunday the sun came out, but the temperature didn't clear 70. Today (Memorial Day)—more clouds and cool temperatures.

I saw the legions of SUV and RV owners dragging their boats back home yesterday afternoon, no doubt failing to congratulate themselves for their part in the worst gas crisis in American history. Memorial Day, to them, had been a washout; and I couldn't have felt better. What are Americans doing, during a time when our country should be mourning the 4000 dead in Iraq and Afghanistan, throwing big parties on Wisconsin's lakes? Whooping it up without giving a thought to the thousands who have trodden hostile foreign sands for a lousy paycheck and a rendezvous with death, defending their freedoms?

Last night I sat out in my yard for a little while, and I could hear the racket from a party a couple of blocks away. I wished I would have had an RPG, because I just might have used it. Shut the fuck up. What are you laughing about? This is Memorial Day, cretins. It's a time to mourn your dead.

I hope the "unfortunate" turn in the weather is causing my fellow citizens hereabouts to mourn their fallen heroes instead of bitching about the cold and the days they didn't get to spend on the water, quaffing Miller Lite and shouting SHOW US YOUR TITS! to bimbos on passing boats.

But I doubt it.

American soldiers, sailors, and Marines: We at Schmaltz und Grieben salute you, and most of all your departed comrades-in-arms who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

DEFENDING THE INDEFENSIBLE: If you want to know why we just might *lose* the battle for civilization, look no further than my local "Mommy Forum."

There's a forum called "the Lighter Side" where moms can post jokes or funnies, and last night I posted something I thought was hilarious. It was a new mnemonic device for remembering the name of the current leader of Iran (Ahmadinejad). I'd heard it earlier in the evening on TV and thought it was hysterical, and being the generous person I am, I thought I'd share the laughs with others.

It was, simply: "I'minthemoodforjihad."

Funny, right? Accurate, right?

Well, I posted it, went to bed (it was late), and first thing this morning, I had a note from the site moderators letting me know that the post had been deleted by them because it was "RACIST."

(Scratches head) Racist? Can someone please identify the "race" I'm insulting here? Persians? Not a race (they are actually Caucasian technically). Muslims? Not a race, they're represented by every race on the planet actually. Jihadis? Well, maybe a previously unknown "race" of subhumans, but beyond that, I think not.

I'm confused, I really am. Who am I hurting here? Does anyone for a second really want to defend Mr. Ahmadinejad himself? How about jihadis? Are they seriously suggesting that I was targeting the one guy on the planet who actually still thinks of "jihad" as some deep personal inner struggle with the self (as opposed to the racist genocial homocidal impulse that it is?).

Isn't Ahmadinejad, Holocaust denier extraordinaire, the biggest, most vocal racist on the planet right now? For those who would say "racist" isn't the right word, all I can say is if they can use a loose interpretation to ban my post, then I can use one to classify his anti-semitism. The man leads chants of "Death to Jews," but we're supposed to worry about his feelings? Or is it the feelings of moms in the forum who might agree with him? Is this who we're catering to now? Gee, I wonder what they'd have done during WWII? Would they have banned jokes about Adolph's missing testicle?

As far as I'm concerned, some people DESERVE to be mocked, and it shouldn't matter what "race" they are. If they are bad people, they are fair game, and is there serioulsy someone in my midst, some fellow member of my local mother's group who doesn't see this guy as a BAD PERSON? And even if there were, wouldn't the moderators show some judgement and trump that view with some common sense? (Obviously these are rhetorical questions, I'm not *that* naive.)

All I know is, the message I got was clear: The only "racists" these mommies won't tolerate are those of us who just can't appreciate the (heavy sarcasm) noble goals of all the OTHERS. Sadly, I think this is pretty typical of what we're seeing all over this country today. It's sad, and it's scary.
